Post grinding we complete the job with finishing and micro polishing to achieve desired surface finishes with superior results and enhance maximum bearing life
We individually designs and create conrods using CAD technology and precision CNC machinery. Manufactured by hand, you can be assured of their quality and strength, with true and round bore tunnels with correct alignment and centre-to-centre lengths.Om Repowering’s precision gauge also ensures correct sizing for optimising bearing crush and bearing clearances. Conrod bore machining is performed on our Carl Larson CL-18 pin-boring machine, and Conrod honing is performed on our Sunnen LBB-1660. Our conrods can be tailored to vintage, classic, performance or modern engine.

Many machining tasks are carried out like machining V8 blocks for 4 bolt main caps and notch clearance for extended stroke crankshafts, machining and manufacturing custom lightweight flywheels, machining for darton and custom sleeve installations, CNC combustion chamber modifications and other non engine components like racing wheel centers.
Om Repowering engines has 2 specialsed machines for this process, firstly boring the cylinders we use a Macprec boring machine, this machine enables us to bore the cylinders and surface machine the block face on the one set up.Modern technology is utilised with the tooling i.e. diamond and CBN tooling, this ensures ultimate surface finishes and bore sizing. Cylinder sleeve fitment and machining is also our specialty, the equipment and processes used for sleeve installation ensures correct interference and finishes that enables true heat transfer and with utilizing a step seat for the sleeve to home itself, this ensures the sleeves integrity and stability.
Line boring is one of our process where main tunnels in the cylinder block are reworked to achieve true, round and aligned journals.This is achieved by machining main cap parting faces and reassembling, this reduces the main tunnel specifications and allows us to accurately line Bore / Line Hone to the desired specification.Line Honing is performed on our Sunnen CH-100 machine and this uses a long mandrel with stones and shoes, the honed finish achieves finer surface finishes with the result of improved bearing contact which is desired in performance applications.

We have a Rottler S7M and Chevalier CNC Machining Centre that are used to surface machine cylinder heads and blocks.Combined with the latest technology such as CBN and diamond tooling, we are able to produce superior fine surface finishes that modern MLS head gaskets require. We use a Serdi S 4.0 valve seat and guide machining system, which has a broad cutting range of 14 to 120 millimetres in seat diameters. The machine has a patented air-float system, which ensures perfect centring of each valve and superior valve seat concentricity, essential for engine efficiency.
